The Future For Enterprise Tech: What Do The Next 10 Years Hold?

Over the last 10 years, technological advancements have played an important role in addressing challenges and offering new possibilities for enterprises. For example, the widespread adoption of containerisation and cloud computing has heralded a transition from physical hardware to requirement-based as-a-service models.

So what will the next 10 years bring? Advancements in artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, and quantum computing could really change the game for businesses of all kinds. Which of these will go on to shape our world, and the world of businesses, in the future?

At Tech Trailblazers we decided to use the vast and wide-ranging experience of our judges to find out what their predictions for the next decade of Enterprise technology are.

For instance, Gerald Brady, Managing Director, Silicon Valley Bank believes quantum computing is finally going to materialise. “I do think we will see real quantum computers in use in the next five years. There’s a lot of people who are saying, ‘It’s been the year of quantum computers for 30 years and they’ve never come,’ but I actually think we are on the cusp of quantum technology coming to us,” he predicts.

Joe Baguley, CTO EMEA, VMware, feels there will be a more wide-ranging change coming. “In 2031 there’s going to be even more focus than there is now on sustainability, on social change, on a better world full stop,” he says. “So, the opportunity and the inspection of technology will be far greater in 10 years in terms of its social, economic, and environmental impact, than it is now.”
