Amongst a range of roles across the media, Alex’s primary role is Global AI and Technology Editor at iTWire, having joined Australia’s biggest online tech publication when it started in 2005, and is one of Australia’s best-known technology journalists and consumer technology experts.Reporting on business and consumer technology since 1998 across all mediums, he has followed the industry since 1979 as a four and a half year old with the Z80-chip based American “Exidy Sorcerer” computer, witnessing the birth of the Apple II and DOS PCs, then the graphical user interfaces and the mouse with Macs, Windows PCs, the Commodore Amiga and others in the 80s, through to the rise of the web and mobile computing in the 90s and 2000s, followed by the many advances in technology of the 2010s and 2020s, right through to today’s fast-moving developments in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, enterprise innovation and incredible advances in consumer technologies.. His experience extends well beyond the written word. Alex has appeared as a technology expert across all of Australia’s major free-to-air and pay television networks, news and current affairs programmes, technology and lifestyle shows, as well as appearing in print as editor of computer magazines, and still writes for printed publications to this day. He also presents regular technology segments on commercial and public radio, and contributes a weekly tech segment within the 400,000 downloads a month “SpaceTime with Stuart Gary” podcast focusing on space, astronomy, science – and tech. Alex also hosts iTWire’s YouTube channel with a range of enterprise and consumer news, reviews, views and interviews, and in late August 2026, joined the UK Live YouTube Channel with his new weekly TV show, “The Byte Back”, airing each Saturday London time at 10am on the Mike Graham YouTube channel, and then replayed immediately afterwards at 11am on UK Live.
